Between 8 May and 8 November, Turkish-American pioneer of digital art Refik Anadol brings a groundbreaking exhibition to the new art gallery BRUSK. ‘Refik Anadol. Latent City’ is the artist’s first solo exhibition in Belgium. Anadol is known worldwide for his large-scale art installations created in collaboration with artificial intelligence.
During this ‘BRUSK Artist talk’, Refik Anadol offers insight into his practice as a digital artist. How did the immersive total installation come about, which he created especially for BRUSK using historical and real-time data from Bruges?
In conversation with moderator Tim Verheyden (VRT), Anadol delves deeper into societal themes such as the role of artificial intelligence, the relationship between humans and machines, copyright, and digital creation, as well as climate issues, energy consumption, and sustainability. An atmospheric musical intervention by Nemø ensemble completes the evening.
On the occasion of the exhibition, the book Refik Anadol (Hannibal Books) will be published. After the talk, the book can be purchased and signed.
